Depression
Depression can strike anyone and indeed, according to the National Institute of Mental Health, every year nearly seven percent of all adults suffer a depressive episode. It's also the cause of much missed work, relationship problems and personal suffering. But most importantly, depression is very treatable.
Anxiety and Stress
Arguably the 'common cold' of mental health concerns, the effects of unchecked, extreme levels of anxiety and stress can lead to physical, emotional and relationship problems. Particularly since the pandemic, stress and anxiety disorders are on the rise. Everyone needs to learn to identify when their stress and/or anxiety is out of control as well as what to do about it.
Job/Work/Career
Over the course of your work life, you will inevitably face challenges on the job or in your career. And, today, with the ever changing and complicated demands of the workplace, finding and staying in your career ‘sweet spot’ is more difficult to maintain than ever. But it is possible, let me show you how.
LGBTQIA+
Today is better than ever for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, pansexual, non-binary and questioning -or queer - adults. I understand and affirm your right to live in YOUR gender and sexual identity sweet spot(s). Isn’t it time you lived most fully and authentically!?!
Social Anxiety & Shyness
One of life’s little secrets is that too many adults are shy, socially anxious and/or introverted. So why does the world still tend to like extroverts more? Because they are the proverbial ‘squeakier’ wheels. No matter, I understand and will help you stay true to yourself and succeed in life on your terms.
Pain Management
A chronic pain sufferer myself, I know how frustrating and depressing it can be to live with this condition. I will create with you a customized, multi-faceted system of mind/body approaches to pain control that works for you, minimizing or eliminating the use of pharmaceuticals and maximizing your ability to live a life you love.
Grief, Change, Loss and Transition
Everyone goes through big life changes at some point. Divorce, new marriage, single and dating, job change, death of a loved one, retirement, illness in self or loved ones. The list goes on and on. Probably the most common reason people try therapy is when they are facing a life altering crisis requiring a ‘new normal’. As a result, if I had to choose a ‘specialty’ it is this one: helping individuals ‘survive’ and move through difficult life transitions to a successful new reality.
Prevention and Self Growth
This category is my favorite. Therapy is ideal for those ready to head problems off before they happen, say in a relationship, job or inside oneself. One of my favorite therapy practices is helping individuals grow to function more healthfully in today's complex world. For example, many men and women reach adulthood physically but do not mature psychologically in the ways needed in today's world to be most successful. There are endless examples of this issue. How do you know if you need help with 'self growth'? It's up to you. If you want 'more' of something intangible like personal fulfillment, then I can help.
